PERU LAUNCHES PLAN TO PROTECT
SACSAYHUAMAN ARCHAEOLOGICAL PARK
Cusco’s Regional Directorate of Culture carries out prevention works as part of a contingency plan in order to protect the archaeological park of Sacsayhuaman (SAP) from rains, landslides and other meteorological phenomena.
This plan includes permanent monitoring actions, as well as prevention and emergency works in the entire archaeological park.
The Regional Directorate of Culture said that this project will be carried out in two phases: the first one of emergency, from January to March, and the second one that incorporates maintenance and conservation works throughout the year.
For this end, the PAS professional, technical and the working-class staff (125 people) are in charge of different actions such as the periodic general evaluation of all archeological sites to identify the potential damages and decide which emergency works to implement.
In addition, maintenance and conservation works will be implemented through the cleaning and care of drainage, installation of temporary sheds and other works to be planned as a result of the systematization of emergency actions carried out and to be carried out this season. |
