INDIAN CINEMA ENTREPRENEURS LIKELY TO EXPLORE NEW FILMING LOCATIONS IN PERU

Indian cinema entrepreneurs would visit Peru in March to explore new filming locations, Peru’s Minister of Foreign Trade and Tourism Eduardo Ferreyros reported.

“Indian entrepreneurs are always looking for filming locations and are very interested in investing in our country. This is very important, because millions of people watch these movies, which will strengthen tourism in Peru,” he said to Andina news agency.
Endhiran-The Robot, which is said to be the most expensive Indian movie made till date, opened last year and was shot in the beautiful mountainous locations of Machu Picchu in Peru.

The musical, produced by Kalanidhi Maran and Sun Pictures, had a budget of around US$36.5 million; meanwhile, other more expensive Indian films totaled US$20 million.

Peru’s minister met with representatives of the production company in charge of coming up with filming locations. They expressed their interest in shooting in different Peruvian locations such as beaches, mountains and famous archeological monuments.

The Indian cinema industry is the producer of the largest number of movies in the World.
