This is one of our best and most exclusive trekking circuits. It is designed for those travelers who want to experience the incredible beauty and cultural wealth of the Andes by hiking less-traveled, well preserved trails.
Authentic meetings with Quechuan communities combined with spectacular scenery give these treks a marvelous mix of tradition and splendor.
Passing through the rich pasture lands of the Urubamba mountains, we will cross high peaks and subtropical valleys, seeing on the way the most beautiful crystal waters and scenic lakes, natural hot springs and Incan archeological ruins.
Because this region lies far from any town or city, its inhabitants have been able to preserve many traditions, including herding llama and alpaca, ancient farming techniques, a natural system of textile weaving and knitting used by the Incas.
This spectacular trek offers travelers the opportunity to observe and participate in the daily life of Cusco’s Andean mountains, which is an integral part of the marvelous natural beauty.

THE TRIP: ALTITUDE.- From 2,800 until 4,500 meters above sea level. |
Day 01: Cusco – Cancha Cancha.- We will leave Cusco very early by bus and travel through the Sacred Valley. The ride to Sayuapata (2800 meters) will last approximately 1.5 hours. In this fertile valley we will begin our hike by following a small river that leads us across the mountains. After about 4 hours on the trail, as we start to see sudden changes in the scenery, nature will become our travel companion. Next, we will see a beautiful scene of houses made out of stone with picturesque straw roofs. This is the warm welcome that the Cancha Cancha (3,350 meters) community gives us. We’ll pass this small village in order to camp and rest in the surrounding nature. Overnight stay at camp.
Day 02: Cancha Cancha – Quisuarani.- Rising early, we will continue the hike until we arrive at Suirococha Lake and Yuraccocha Lake, brilliant glaciers where we will be able to see various species of birds like the Andean Ibis and the Andean Geese. Afterward we will have a steep uphill hike of about 2.5 hours until we arrive at the first pass called Pachacutec (4,500 meters). When we are near the top, we will have a spectacular view of the snow-capped peaks of Pitusiray (5,750 meters) and Chichón (5,500 meters). An original stone Incan trail will guide us along the downhill path of the opposite passageway. We’ll follow a series of waterfalls until arriving at Quisuarni village. Set up camp and overnight stay.
Day 03: Quisuarani – Baños Termales de Lares – Huacawasi.- We’ll start the day hiking along a scenic path for about 3 hours until we arrive at the colonial city of Lares. Here we will relax in the hot springs and eat lunch. Afterward we’ll continue the hike toward the Huacawasi community. Set up camp and overnight stay.
Day 04: Huacawasi – Yanahuara – Ollantaytambo.- Very early in the morning, we’ll begin a 3.5 hour uphill hike to the Yanahuara Pass (4,100 meters). At this spot, the view is spectacular. We will pass by huge rock formations and mountain pools and follow the original Incan stone paths that connected the Lares Valley with the Urubamba Valley. Our gradual descent will take another 3.5 hours until we arrive at Yanahuara village in the Sacred Valley. Here our transportation will be waiting to take us to Ollantaytambo. Overnight stay in hotel.
