With the new limits and restrictions placed on the use of the traditional Inca Trail to Machu Picchu, alternative paths to Machu Picchu have been forged. This is one of best and most exclusive trekking circuits offered as an alternative to the traditional Inca Trail. We leave behind the city and the noise to enter the countryside, the peaceful silence, the sweet bird songs, the sound of a bubbling creek and the charm of the mountains. On our first day, we will watch the morning sun rise above the impressive snow-capped mountain, Salkantay (6,271 meters), marveling at the way the first rays of sunshine illuminate the snow. In 5 wonderful days of hiking, we will cross the valley, the high mountain range and, almost without realizing it, we’ll find ourselves among the lush forest plants. The scenery will be similar to that of the traditional Inca Trail, but the route will be much less traveled. Finally, we will marvel before the majestic, ancient Machu Picchu, incorporated into the mountain as if the two were one, the work of great architects who knew how to build in total harmony with the surrounding nature.

Day 01: Cusco – Soraypampa.- Pick up from hotel at 4:30 a.m. to board bus to Mollepata. Arrival at 9:00 a.m. and beginning of our adventure. We will hike approximately 4 hours until arriving at Silcakancha, all the while enjoying the great diversity of flora and fauna. Lunch. Three more hours of hiking and we will arrive in Soraypampa. Set up camp, dinner and overnight stay.

Day 02: Soraypampa – Cgolpapampa.- We will wake up early and enjoy a delicious breakfast, preparing us for the hike to Soraypampa (3,400 meters) and over the 4,650 meter high pass. From the top of the pass, we will admire the stunning Andean mountain range. We will be carrying oxygen and a First-Aid kit in case of an emergency. After contemplating such impressive beauty, we will go down the mountain and have lunch. With our stomachs content, we’ll continue to Colpa Bamba to set up camp. As this is a tropical region, we’ll take the necessary precautions against the mosquitos. Dinner and overnight stay.

Day 03: Colpapampa - La Playa.- We’ll wake up at 6:45 a.m., eat breakfast and continue our hike until arriving at Lluscamayu. Lunch. On the way to La Playa, we will visit Inca bridges and enjoy the exotic flora and fauna of the region. After 2 hours we’ll arrive at La Playa, a small town where we’ll set up camp. Dinner and overnight stay.

Day 04: La Playa – Hidro – Aguas Calientes.- After breakfast, we’ll board a truck to the village of Santa Teresa. Afterward, we’ll take an hour-long hike toward La Oroya and cross the Urubamba River. Next we’ll take a truck to the hydroelectric power plant. Lunch and leisure time until the train arrives and takes us on a short trip (30 minutes) to Aguas Calientes. This night lodging will be in a hostel. Dinner and overnight stay.

Day 05: Machu Picchu – Cusco.- After breakfast, we’ll start the hike to the historic sanctuary, Machu Picchu. At Machu Picchu, we’ll have a 2-hour guided visit and then leisure time to enjoy such a majestic place. Return in bus to Aguas Calientes and board the train to Cusco.
